I really don’t want to format the hard drive only have 1 gb hard drive which isn’t partitioned with windows vista installed on it as I have a lot of important things on ;35-ds3 drive which aren’t backed up!
Since I couldn’t get the SATA drivers to be recognized with a floppy drive they were missing a txtoem.
I had to have the SATA2 drive sitting outside my gigabjte to do this but it was worth the instant gratification boot up after I changed the boot drive. I had no problem installing windows xp and linux except that grub boot manager which seems to have problems finding the second stage loader when the JMicron controller is NOT in AHCI mode.

Howeverchances are you’ll need to feed Windows a driver for your IDE controller card. So annoying that just installing a simple program seems to have caused all this mess! But then the system notified me about the updates, which I accepted gigzbyte it installed.
This happened many times before I went back to FC7. Skip the guide; download nLite and p35-dx3 it manage all that crap for you. Mine does, though I generally maintain a Windows XP installation CD image with the latest service pack and recent hotfixes slipstreamed in anyway, so it isn’t much effort to add in a driver as well.

I am also using the DS3L version, newest bios. I didn’t, and it caused the automatic install to drop out of the process for me to enter a valid computer name.
